About Us

Bee Blessed was born out of a heartfelt dream to create a sustainable and empowering project for the women’s club at Lemoenpoort Farm.

Lemoenpoort is a Fairtrade-certified wine farm nestled in the scenic Breederivier Valley near Worcester in the Western Cape, South Africa. Owned by Pieter and Christine Viljoen, the farm is more than just a place of work. It is a growing hub for social development and empowerment. Through funds generated by wine sales and exports, ten community upliftment projects are currently running on the farm, all designed to improve the lives of farm workers and create meaningful growth opportunities.

One of the standout initiatives is a dynamic women’s club with 23 passionate and creative members. These women are committed to learning new skills, exploring innovative ideas, and finding ways to support themselves and their families. While the club receives funding as part of the Fairtrade programme, Christine envisioned a project that would be both empowering and self-sustaining.

Inspiration came during a visit to her sister in Australia, where Christine discovered beeswax wraps, a natural, reusable alternative to plastic wrap. They were eco-friendly, practical, and full of potential. After thorough research and planning, Christine introduced the concept to the women’s club, and the production of beeswax wraps at Lemoenpoort began.

Today, these beautiful wraps represent more than just a greener alternative for food storage. They are a symbol of empowerment, creativity, and sustainable living. The women behind them are not only contributing to a plastic-free world but are also gaining valuable knowledge about recycling, healthy living, and entrepreneurship.

With the name Bee Blessed, we hope to pass on a blessing.

Not only to the incredible women behind each beeswax wrap, but also to every person who supports this journey by choosing our product.
